Indian Law and Administration Syllabus for M. A. II (Semester III)
Preamble and Objectives:
This course is one of the electives offered for MA Part II Semester III. Course
encompasses study of two of the four prime goals of human life, Dharma and
Artha. It prompts a traditional understanding of various texts associated with
Dharmashastra and Arthashastra. It also throws light on development of these ideas
by introduci ng medieval texts like Viramitrodaya.
Along with textual understanding, the course aims at motivating students to
undertake a comparative analysis. It also makes these subjects relevant by
assignments on application of theoretical knowledge to modern wor ld affairs.
Course aims at empowering the student with a holistic and comparative
understanding of law and administration in ancient and medieval India.
