DIPLOMA IN JAPANESE (Level JLPT N4)
The main aim of this course is to give the students enough Japanese knowledge to be able to
listen to, comprehend and participate in normal conversations that might occur in daily life.
The students would have a better understanding of Japanese grammar and would also be
introduced to the next 250 kanji, with their many readings and compounds.
The students would be taught about the basic elements related to the practical usage of the
language in terms of reading, writing, and speaking during the duration of their course. The
basic aim of the course is to make the student into a more fluent amid speaker and user of the
language.
Equivalent to JLPT N4
Level N4: The student
Can read and understand passages on familiar daily topics written in basic vocabulary
and kanji , can understand and listen to and comprehend conversations encountered in daily
life and generally follow their contents, provided that they are spoken slowly.

Exam: Pattern of the exam paper:
The exam paper will test for comprehension, writing competency through essay questions,
translations, and knowledge of the scripts.
Written Exam: 100 marks
Oral Exam: 50 marks (30 continuous evaluation + 20 oral exam)
External Candidates with equivalent prerequisite competence shall be permitted to appear for
the Diploma in Japanese by paying a fees of Rs. 3000/-
This course shall be offered as online/ offline / blended format from the academic year
2021 -22.
