ADVANCED DIPLOMA I IN JAPANESE (Level JLPT N3)

The main aim of this course is to give the students close to native fluency in everyday
situations, and allow them to start reading Japanese newspapers by taking the number of
Kanji they can read, with their many readings and meanings to about 700. They aim would
also be to teach them to use simple honorific Japanese, and introduce them to enough
vocabulary from diverse fields so that they coul d work with Japanese people and in Japan
with no linguistic and cultural difficulties.
Equivalent to JLPT N3
Level N3: The student can read and understand written materials with specific contents
concerning everyday topics. Can also able to grasp summary information such as newspaper
headlines. Can also read slightly difficult writings encountered in everyday situations and
understand the main points of the content if some alternative phrases are available to aid their
understanding. Can listen to and comprehend coherent conversations in everyday situations,
spoken at near -natural speed, and can generally follow their contents as well as grasp the
relationships among the people involved.

Exam: Pattern of the exam paper:
The exam paper will test for comprehension, writing competency through essay questions,
translations, and knowledge of the scripts.

Written Exam: 100 marks
Oral Exam: 50 marks (30 continuous evaluation + 20 oral exam)

External Candidates with equivalent prerequisite competence shall be permitted to appear for
the Advanced Diploma I in Japanese by paying a fees of Rs. 4000/-

This course shall be offered as online/ offline / blended format from the academic year
2021 -22.
