Programme: SHORT TERM CERTIFICATE II in CHINESE MANDARIN (HSK 2)
Credits: 2 Duration: 6 0 hrs
Objectives:
1. Imparting communication skills in Chinese Mandarin for Level 2. Teaching of a
higher level of basic Chinese Mandarin language to those students who have passed
Level 1. A minimum of 300 Chinese words will be taught along with some basic information on Chinese culture. Students shall learn to communicate in the
performing of simple and routine tasks and to have an excelle nt grasp of basic
Chinese Mandarin.
2. Facilitation of learning of basic Chinese Mandarin language by imparting better
speaking and understanding skills by latest teaching methods .
Rationale of the Short term Certificate II Chinese Mandarin (Level 2):
The second step in the learning of the Chinese language in a structured and intuitive process,
learners need to go to this next level course for learning Chinese Mandarin through the integrated communicative approach. The Short term certificate II course cements the foundation laid by the earlier Level 1 course. The process employs intense interaction with the methodologies, tools and techniques of teaching, deployed in the teaching of various languages, including foreign languages. This course cements Chinese Mandarin’s potentiality
as a viable second, third or foreign language.
Programme Description:
The programme shall enable the Level 2 learners to understand and communicate with
sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of common immedi ate relevance;
for instance, to express past and future, describe right and wrong, mood, colours, seasons, making comparison, suggestions and explaining a reason. Communication skills of speaking,
reading, listening and understanding simple routine tasks and situations, shall be imparted.
The learners shall be able to express themselves, describe and exchange information on
familiar and routine matters, describe their character, simple emotions, immediate environment and matters of need, in simple language.

such an event, HSK Levels 1 -6 and HSKK Levels 1- 3 examinations will be offered by the
Institute and the additional fees will be as below:
