Ordinances and Regulations relating to the three -year Bachelor of Performing Arts
(Dance) B.P.A. (Dance) degree course.

FIRST YEAR (PART I) EXAMINATION FOR THE
THREE -YEAR BACHELOR DEGREE COURSE
IN FINE ARTS (DANCE)
Ordinances

O_______The first and second semester of Part I examination for the three year B.F.A. /
B.P.A. (Dance) will be conducted by the Institution subsequent to his / her passing the F -II in
Dance or H.S.C. Examination.
O.2059. The first year Part I examination for the three -year B.F.A. / B.P.A. (Dance) will be
conducted by the Institution and no candidate will be admitted to the examination unless he / she has kept, two terms in an Institution recognised for the purpose by the University of Mumbai, subsequent to his / her passing the Foundation -II course in Dance or the Higher
Secondary Certificate Examination.
O.2060. A candidate who secures exemption marks in all the theory subjects but one at the
Foundation- I examination in Dance in conformity with R.____ and has passed in all the
practicals will be allowed to keep terms and appear for the First Year (Part -I) examination,
after keep two terms but will not be declared to have passed the said examination unless he / she has cleared in the remaining subjects / head of the Foundati on-II examination in Dance in
accordance with O.213.
Standard for passing the examination

R______A candidate who reappears for all the subjects both theory as well as practical’s
although failed in one or more subjects earlier should be permitted under the Class
Improvement Scheme. Such a candidate will be eligible for, a class or a prize in a scholarship awarded at the examination. But to enhance their class or improvement of his / her class if he / she appears for all the theory as well as practical he / she will be eligible for the class or
prize or a scholarship awarded at the examination.


Regulations existing:


R.1750. Candidates will be examined in the following subjects of the different style: -
R.1752. To pass the examination, a candidate must obtain 40 percent of the full marks in
each of the theory papers, 50 percent of the full marks in each of the practical examination and 50 percent of the total marks obtainable.
Those of the successful candidates who obtain 50 percent of the total marks
obtainable at the examination shall be placed in the second class.
Those of the successful candidates who obtain 60 percent of the total marks obtainable at

the examination shall be placed in the First Class and of the candidates placed in the First
Class those who obtain 70 percent or more marks will be declared to have the examination in
First Class with Distinction.
R.1753. A candidate who has obtained 50 percent of the total marks in any theory subject or
subjects only may, at his / her option, be exempted from appearing in that subject or subjects at a subsequent examination and will be declared to have passed the examination when he / she passes in the remaining subject or subjects in which he / she appears on the last occasion and obtains the mini mum number of marks in each subject and the percentage of the total
marks in such remaining subject as required by R.1752.

Such a candidate will not be eligible for, a class or a prize in a scholarship awarded at
the examination.

Semester III and IV of B.P.A. – Part II will be held by the Institution

Second Year (Part II) Examination for Bachelor of Performing Arts (B.P.A.) in Dance.

O.2061. The second year (Part -II) examination in Performing Arts (Dance) will be conducted
by the Institution and no candidate will be admitted to this examination unless he / she has kept two terms in an institution recognized for the purpose by the University of Mumbai subsequent to his / her passing the First Year (Part -I) examination in Performing Arts (Dance)
to the sa tisfaction of the head of the Institution.
O.2062. A candidate who secures exemption marks in all the theory subjects but one at the
First Year (Part- I) examination in Performing Arts (Dance) in conformity with R.1753 and
has passed in all the practicals will be allowed to keep terms and appear for the Second Year
(Part -II) examination in Performing Arts (Dance) after keeping two terms but will not be
declared to have passed the said examination under any circumstances unless he / she has passed in the remaining subject / head of the First Year (Part- I) examination of Performing
Arts (Dance) in accordance with O.213.

obtainable at the examination shall be placed in the first class and of the candidates placed in
the first class those who obtain 70 percent or more marks will be declared to have passed the examination in First Class with Distinction.
R.1756. A candidate who has obtained 50 percent of the total marks in any theory subject or
subjects only may. at his / her option, be exempted from appearing in that subject at a
subsequent examination and will be declared to have passed the examination when he / she passes in the remaining subject or subjects in which he / she appears on the last occasion and obtains the minimum number of marks in each subject and the percentage of the total marks in such remaining subject or subjects as required by R.1755.

Such a candidate will not be eligible for a class, prize, or a scholarship awarded at the
examination.


Examination for the degree of Bachelor of Performing Arts (Dance)

O.2063. The semester V and VI examination will be held by the University and no candidate
will be admitted to this examination unless he / she has kept two terms in an Institution
recognized for the purpose by the University of Mumbai, subsequent to his /her passing the
second year (Part -II) examination in Performing Arts (Dance).
O.2064. A candidate who secures exemption marks in all the theory subjects but one at the second year (Part -I) examination in Performing Arts (Dance) in conformity with R.____ and
has passed in all the practicals will be allowed to keep terms and appear for the examination
for the degree of Bachelor of Performing Arts (Dance) after keeping two terms but will not be
declared to have passed the said examination under any circumstances unless he / she has
passed in the remaining subjects / head of the second year (Part -II) examination in
Performing Arts (Dance) in accordance with O.213.
Grading System:

The grade card issued at the end of the semester to each student shall contain the following:
a) The credits earned for each course registered that year
b) The performance in each course indicated by the letter grade
c) The Grade Point Average (GPA), of all the courses registered for the semester
d) The Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)
e) Overall Weighted Percentage of Marks (OWPM), and cumulative grade point average
after completing the programme will appear only on the grade card for the final year.
