Advanced Diploma III in German (C1Level).
1. The New Education Policy (NEP 2020) emphasizes upon making students global citizens.
Teaching a technologically and culturally advanced foreign language like German is a step in this
direction.
2. With the introduction of this course we are bringing our Advanced Diploma in German Course
on par with the C1 Level of the internationally recognized language proficiency leve l as per the
Common European Reference Framework, which is the standard global norm.
3. Bringing this parity with international language proficiency level shall make the certification of
University of Mumbai internationally recognized.
4. This will increas e not only the employability of our students, but also facilitate their admission
to programmes of higher education worldwide.
5. This part time course will be a self -financed course and will not be a burden to the University
and qualified faculty is avail able to teach.
6. Duration: 240 hrs

O_________ Eligibility: Students seeking admission to this programme should have passed
Advanced Diploma II in German of the University of Mumbai or any other University
or have passed B2 of the Goethe Institut (Max Mueller Bhavan)

R_________ Teaching Faculty Qualification: as per the University norms for part time courses with
training in communicative approach to language teaching.

Syllabus:
Level C1: Expert language skills Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts and also grasp
implicit meanings. Can express himself spontaneously and fluently, without having to search for words
more clearly. Can use the language effectively and flexibly in social and pro fessional life or in training
and studies. Can express himself in a clear, structured and detailed manner on complex issues and use
various means of linking text appropriately.

External Candidates with equivalent prerequisite competence shall be permitted to appear for the
Advan ce Diploma III in German by paying a fees of Rs. 4000/ - only when the final exam is held.
The University Department of German may hold this exam or a part of it in collaboration with an
internationally recognized body and due fees may be collected by the department as per the
understanding with the international organization so that the students may avail of an
internationally recognized certification in addition to the Diploma Certificate for benefit of the
students.
The marksheet / gradesheet must mention the Level C1 and 8 Credits.
This course shall be offered online/ offline/ blended learning format from the academic year
2021 -22 onwards.
